Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum
Cold Spring Harbor’s Whaling Museum offers visitors an opportunity to see and touch the dramatic history of this tiny hamlet’s seafaring past. Discover the story of Long Island’s Yankee whalers of the 1800’s, and follow the story to the present  and the larger history of Long Islanders and their relationship to the sea and its resources. Gift shop, changing exhibits, special programs.

Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium
Nassau/Suffolk border at Rtes. 25A & 108. Environmental education center and demonstration hatchery. Open daily year-round, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. Two buildings with tanks and aquariums, eight outdoor tanks. Largest collection of native freshwater fish, turtles and amphibians in the state. Fee. (516-692-6768)

Cold Spring Harbor Firehouse Museum located in the village's restored 100-year-old firehouse at 84A Main Street in Cold Spring Harbor. Exhibits include a 19th century hand pumper and a 1923 Model T fire truck. Free Admission. Hours: Friday & Saturday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday 12- 5 p.m. (631) 367-0400.

Dolan DNA Learning Center
334 Main St. & Rte. 25A. The educational arm of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and the world’s first bio-technology museum, features a multimedia presentation on LI’s history and heritage, Mon.- Fri., 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sat., noon-4 p.m. Call for holiday hours. (516-367-5170)
